Summer Events in Bishop Hill

My absolute favorite thing about Bishop Hill is that most of the time it is so peaceful and quiet. A place where artist of all kinds live and work. Then about every other weekend we have events where people come from all over the world to Bishop Hill. All of the community gets involved in some way to volunteer. I wanted to share a few of thse events with you.

Bishop Hill Honor Flight Benefit Auction -June 9th

Starting the fun is our Honor Flight Benefit. A wonderful day full of Patriotic music delicous BBQ ribs and a Live Auction that raises money to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. In the Bishop Hill State Park from 3-6pm.

Midsommar Music Festival-June 22, 2019

This is a traditional Swedish summer solstice celebration with music, dancing and decorating a Maypole at 4pm.  The music in the park starts at 11am and a Barn Dance starts at 7pm at the Colony School.

My contribution to our Midsommar Festival  is making these lovely fresh flower hair wreaths for the maidens. Come and enjoy the fun!

In July during the hot summer days we have two wonderful events the Bishop Hill Country Antique Market on the 13th and the Antique Car Show on the 28th.

Bishop Hill Plein Air Festival-August 17th and 18th

This is of course one of my favorites. The Bishop Hill Arts Council invites all artist to come to Bishop Hill and paint with me outside. It is hot but we have plenty of shade. You can come to paint or watch the artists at work.  There will be hands-on arts and craft projects for kids at the The Bishop Hill Creative Commons and live music for everyone.  I will try to put a link to a printable artist registration form here or contact Katrina at Garden Thyme (309)373-5314.2017 Plein Air painting
